Humber has partnered with Lakeshore Arts to host 60 Painters – a major exhibition of contemporary Canadian painting. This collective of artists, led by curator Scott Sawtell, have joined together to present an ambitious exhibition of contemporary Canadian painting.
60 Painters will be on display from May 18 to June 9, 2012 at Humber Arts and Media Studios, and will include public symposiums, educational tours for secondary and post-secondary students, and a published catalogue.
This exhibition is considered the most ambitious overview of contemporary Canadian painting to date. It offers a rare opportunity to view a broad range of contemporary Canadian painting and to examine the influences such artists have on each other’s work. Some of the artists are within the first few years of their practice while others are in their third or fourth decade of exhibiting. All of the painters are creating new work for the exhibition or contributing work that is significant to their practice.
